For votes, DAP will go to dirty tactics, claims Bung Moktar

Umno supreme council man says opposition party has shown just what kind of leaders they would be if they succeed in taking over Putrajaya.

PETALING JAYA:
The DAP would do anything to get votes for its ally Amanah in the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar parliamentary by-elections next week, claims Umno Supreme Council member Bung Moktar Radin.

These methods included resorting to dirty campaign tactics, he further alleged.

The DAP courted controversy this week with election campaign billboards reminding Sungai Besar constituents about Umno division chief Jamal Md Yunos’s remark about “Cina Babi” last year, as well as one hitting out at close ties between PAS and Umno.

Bung Moktar said the posters showed how far the DAP would go to secure support, and depicted the kind of leadership they would be if given the mandate to run the country.

“Sungai Besar by-election appears to be the platform for DAP leaders to show the party’s true colors. In fact, they would do absolutely anything to raise support for Amanah’s candidate,” he said to FMT.

The DAP billboards had upset many, including PAS and Barisan Nasional leaders, who described them as a dirty and desperate effort to win the two parliamentary seats.

However, DAP national publicity chief Tony Pua explained that the billboards were merely an effort to remind the public of their opponents’ misdeeds.

Bung Moktar, who is MP for Kinabatangan, fired back.

He claimed Amanah’s participation in the by-elections was merely at the DAP’s instruction, as shown by the DAP’s stronger presence in the campaign for the two constituencies, although the party was not even in the running.

“Amanah is just DAP’s tool: the campaign appears to be led by DAP while Amanah is merely the yes man,” Bung Moktar alleged.

Polling in the two seats takes place next Saturday.
