Speaking to reporters today, Perak Amanah chairman Asmuni Awi questioned PAS’ relationship with BN and quipped that the Islamist party appeared to be more interested in criticising the Opposition.
“We are not at war with any Opposition party. There is no need for PAS to attack Pakatan Harapan. We are not the ones administrating the country or even Perak.
“So why this continuous attack on us, instead of BN? Is that a sign of their (PAS-Umno) cooperation and solidarity? Is yes, come out and state it openly.”
Asmuni’s statement came a day after former Selangor PAS commissioner Dr Abdul Rani Osman, who is representing the party in the Sungai Besar by-election, rejected any possibility of a merger with Umno.
Asmuni commenting further, said PAS should focus its efforts on taking down BN, which is the common enemy of both Amanah and the Islamist party.
On a separate matter, Asmuni threatened the media to stop referring to Amanah as “PAN”, or face the possible barring from any of the party’s future press conference.
“There are still some press who refers to us as PAN. No matter what your inclination is, as members of the media let’s behave professionally.
“Or else, perhaps we should exclude some of you from covering our future press conferences. Please convey this message to your editors.”
He added that the term “PAN”, often used by PAS’s leaders and its mouthpiece, Harakah Daily, would only confuse voters.
