PETALING JAYA:
It’s no surprise that homegrown singing sensation Yuna, is making waves in the international music scene with the recent release of her new album ‘Chapters’. Now the fame she’s enjoying has most likely jumped several notches higher since her musical stylings have captured the attention of well-known agent Rob Prinz.

Prinz, who has worked with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Barbara Streisand and Bon Jovi, among others, is believed to have discovered the queen of pop, Madonna back in the late 70s.

Leading a team of 35 agents in New York and Los Angeles together with Mark Siegel and Steve Levine, Prinz mentioned Yuna, whose real name is Yunalis Zarai, when asked by Billboard magazine in its May 14 edition, if he was looking for the next Madonna.

In the interview Prinz noted how as an agent, he was always on the lookout for an artist who could move him the way Madonna did.

“Recently, I started working with this artist named Yuna – a very different type of artist, a Malaysian artist signed to Verve,” Prinz said, adding that one never stopped looking or listening for new talent because no one knew when the next great singing sensation would come along.

Yuna, obviously beside her with happiness over the Prinz interview, shared a short video on Twitter of the famed Billboard magazine’s April 30 edition, and captioned it: “Your girl Yuna in @billboard magazine!!” On the video Yuna, is seen flipping the pages of the magazine, when she stops at a page featuring a shot of herself and says in a joyous tone: “Check this out…. Oooooooh, it’s me!”

Yuna’s Chapters album includes the song ‘Crush’ featuring r&b singer and producer Usher, as well as ‘Used to Love You’ featuring Jhene Aiko.
