In the letter, the victim, who is now 15-years-old, admitted that she was also to blame and had already forgiven her uncle, and therefore was hoping he would not be punished severely.
The China Press reported that the accused, aged 22, who was working at a market when the incident occurred, pleaded guilty on three accounts, including sexually assaulting the girl from 2011 to January 2015.
According to the facts of the case, the accused, who shared a room with his nephew, niece and sister in 2011, took advantage while his niece was sleeping and touched her private parts before sexually assaulting her.
However, the victim, who was only 10 at the time, did not push away or reveal the actions of her uncle, who again assaulted her twice on January 2015.
The matter was only revealed after the girl consulted a counselor when she was facing love problems.
The Deputy Public Prosecutor wanted the court to mete out a heavy sentence of at least 21 years on the accused because he had abused the trust placed on him by his sister, aside from the fact that he had a girlfriend at the time and was sexually active.
The judge has set June 22 as the date of sentencing.
