Deputy Health Minister Hilmi Yahya said the vaccine’s manufacturer had filed an application for it to be registered. However, it was still being studied.
“I think the results will be announced mid-year.
“This is because there are four types of dengue, and the vaccine to be produced does not cover all the types,” he told reporters after a working visit to Tampin Hospital, here, today.
Present were state Education and Health Committee Chairman Shamsulkahar Mohd Deli, state Health Director Dr Abdul Rahim Abdullah and Tampin Hospital Director Dr Hatijah Mohd Tan.
Dr Hilmi also said that Negeri Sembilan was the fourth state to implement the hospital cluster concept, after Pahang, Malacca and Sabah, aimed at pooling resources among nearby hospitals to better serve the community and reduce costs.
The hospital cluster in Negeri Sembilan involves Tampin Hospital, Kuala Pilah Hospital and Jempol Hospital.
