The video, uploaded by MyWatch chairman Sri Sanjeevan Ramakrishnan, shows a man, reportedly a warden at a vocational boarding school in Selangor, stomping repeatedly on, it is believed, a Form 4 student after he was caught smoking at a stairwell.

“The warden’s repeated stomping of the student is unwise as it is excessive,” said Sanjeevan.

He added in the video description the warden had to be calmed down by other students, who intervened to separate him from the teenager as they felt the man had gone overboard with his punishment.

Furthermore, it is understood that the victim had not even lit the cigarette when the warden chanced upon him.

“MyWatch supports taking disciplinary action against the student, but the warden’s actions were too much.”

Sanjeevan added that the school would have to be held responsible for the man’s action if the student sustained injuries as a result of the physical assault.

At the time of this article’s publication, the video has been viewed over 11,000 times and shared over 227 times on Facebook.

While some netizens were clearly angry at what they had seen, there were others who defended the warden’s actions and dismissed the punishment as a “small matter.”
