Such speculation, Jidin said, only served to create confusion and upset the current state administration.
“Any decision on the MB’s post is the prime minister’s prerogative, ” he told reporters after attending the weekly Exco meeting here.
Earlier today, it was reported that Ahmad was expected to be replaced as the Terengganu MB amid reports that he had courted the displeasure of the palace.
It was also reported that the palace favoured either Jidin or Telemong assemblyman Rozi Mamat to take over the helm.
Jidin, who is the tourism and culture exco member, said while Ahmad had the full support of the exco members and the people of Terengganu, they would respect any decision made by the palace.
Prime Minister Najib Razak is expected to have an audience with the Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, to discuss the issue.
Speculation about Ahmad being replaced follows the decision by the Terengganu Sultan to strip Ahmad of all the titles bestowed on him, effective Friday, April 22, including one that carries the “Datuk Seri” title.
