Tourism and Culture Minister Mohd Nazri Abd Aziz said this in commenting on the ‘Panama Papers’ in which the Prime Minister’s son Mohd Nazifuddin Mohd Najib was mentioned as having some involvement in offshore ventures.
Meanwhile, Mohd Nazri stated that he was not aware of any of the information leaked in the papers.
“Like I said, if they break the law, then investigate. I don’t know anything about the Panama Papers,” he said, when met by reporters at Parliament lobby, here, today.
Gua Musang member of Parliament, Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah meanwhile said it was up to the government if they wanted to take action or not.
“I think, I leave it to the government and in the name of transparency and good governance, we have to be aware,” he said.
Tengku Razaleigh added that anyone can opt to save their money overseas as it was not against the law to do so.
“Not just politicians, anyone who feels they want to save money overseas to avoid paying taxes, why not?
“I am not saying it is not wrong, but if it can help them save money, that’s why they do it,” he explained.
Mohd Nazifuddin made headlines recently when his name was mentioned in the Panama Papers, with claims he was linked to two companies in the British Virgin Islands, namely Jay Marriot International and PCJ International Venture Limited.
