Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali said in 2009, the land in Mukim Hulu Langat had been identified as a suitable site to build the sludge facility.

“The Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB) and the Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry had planned to acquire the land to build the sludge facility.

“However, the land was alienated to MBI (the Menteri Besar Incorporated) and then sold to Prestige Capital Sdn Bhd in 2013,” he said in his winding-up speech on the motion of thanks for the royal address at the State Assembly sitting here today.

He said following that, PAAB had to re-plan the Langat 2 project and look for a new site to build the sludge facility, causing it to be delayed from the initial scheduled completion in 2017 to 2019.

“I want to ask (state assemblyman of) Pelabuhan Klang ( Khalid), why the land that was marked for the sludge facility was given to MBI and later sold to Prestige Capital?

“Should PAAB wish to build the facility on the same land, it will have to buy back the land for RM600 million, which will eventually be borne by the people of Selangor,” he said.

As such, he said the delay in the Langat 2 project should not be questioned, as it was clearly caused by the action of certain former leaders, which had a direct impact on the implementation of the project.
