The banners showed the Penang Chief Minister’s picture, along with the words: “We do not need dictators. PKR should review its cooperation with DAP and PH (Pakatan Harapan).”
The banners were signed off with the words: “Angkatan Muda Keadilan Pulau Pinang (Penang PKR Youth wing)”.
The Penang PKR Youth wing, the portal reported, issued a statement denying it was responsible for the banners.
Asrol Sani Abdul Razak, the wing’s chief, said the banners were erected to disrupt ties between PH component parties, especially DAP and PKR.
“Those responsible for the banners have also maliciously slandered the Penang PKR Youth wing.
“They seem unable to confront the state PKR Youth leadership, which seems to be very stable at the moment,” Malaysiakini quoted him as saying.
Ties between PKR and DAP were recently strained following Lim’s decision to sack two PKR assemblymen from Penang government-linked companies recently.
Lim sacked Kebun Bunga’s Cheah Kah Peng and Bukit Tengah’s Ong Chin Wen after they decided to abstain from voting in the state assembly against a motion tabled by Umno to halt reclamation projects.
