Syed Ahmad, better known as the rapper Altimet, said he remains loyal to PKR and confident in Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership of both the party and the government.
“The Madani government has successfully stabilised the economy amid global geopolitical uncertainties, boosting the gross domestic product while ensuring the welfare of Malaysians and lifting Malaysia’s name at the global stage,” he said in a statement.
Syed Ahmad, the Ampang PKR chief, joined politics in 2021 and was elected Lembah Jaya assemblyman in the 2023 Selangor state election.
He is in his second term leading the Ampang PKR division, having first been appointed as its head in 2022 before being re-elected last year.
Separately, Wangsa Maju MP Zahir Hassan suggested that he would not be quitting PKR despite attending yesterday’s event in which Rafizi and Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad announced that they would take over Bersama.
In a statement, Zahir said he attended the event as he had been invited to it.
“I remain committed to fulfilling my responsibilities to the voters and constituents in Wangsa Maju,” he said.
