Ahmad, in the Dewan Rakyat today, said Malaysians wanted to live in peace and harmony.
Mahathir was one of the 58 influential leaders who on Friday signed the Citizens Declaration that urged the removal of Prime Minister Najib Razak and reforms of state agencies.
“I am touched by the king’s decree on how certain bodies and people are involved in narrow politics until the people were also caught up in narrow thinking.
“I am sad because Tun Dr Mahathir is dear to me and we love him. I plead (with Mahathir), just like the king’s decree, to stop.”
Ahmad also expressed hope that Putrajaya had a plan to reduce the people’s burden and was committed to improving the public’s livelihood.
“I hope that whatever that is happening in the peninsula will not be brought to Sabah and Sarawak. Please stop.”
