PETALING JAYA:
Police are ready to face the Islamic State (IS) threat in the country, Bukit Aman Special Branch director Mohamad Fuzi Harun said today.

The Star Online quoted him as saying that necessary measures were being taken to ensure that the threat would not become a reality.

He was referring to the threat issued by the IS’s Malay wing called Katibah Nusantara, in a video recently.

“We are ready to face any threat, despite its grave nature,” he was quoted saying at the sidelines of the International Conference on De-radicalisation and Violent Extremism in Kuala Lumpur.

He said the objective of the video was to cause fear among the people and that staying vigilant was vital in preventing attacks on home soil.

Earlier today, it was reported that the Katibah Nusantara video had been making its rounds online.

In the video, titled “Public Message for Malaysia”, the Malaysia-Indonesia unit of IS vowed revenge for the arrests of its members in Malaysia.
