When it comes to hawker dishes from Johor, Tangkak beef noodle is perhaps the most well known. If you ever find yourself heading down south, do check out one of the many restaurants that serve this delicious dish.

One such establishment, just a stone’s throw away from the Tangkak toll plaza, is Do Do Do Beef Noodle. Situated in a corner shoplot, it offers a simple but comfortable setup, and can get rather busy on weekends.

It might take a while to get attention from your server, but the food won’t take long to arrive once you have ordered.

The menu is limited but enough to satisfy your noodle needs: soup or dry version of the beef variety, as well as curry chicken noodles. You can opt for yellow mee, mee hoon, or kuih teow, or even rice to go with the curry.

Which do you prefer – the wet or dry? Both are equally enjoyable. (KY Speaks pic)

Highly recommended is the “three treasures” soup and dry noodles that comes with beef, tripe, and tendon. The normal serving is priced at RM9.50, or you can add extra ingredients for RM15.50.

The verdict? Well, you will understand why this dish makes the town famous. The texture of the meat and offal is excellent – soft and tender without losing its integrity.

Taste-wise, the soup and “dry” gravy have an authentically herbal aroma while retaining a rich and natural beef flavour. The tendon and the tripe are particularly enjoyable, if you like these parts of the animal.

All in all, you should definitely make a stopover in Tangkak and check out Do Do Do whenever you travel to Johor.
