Simple Asian-style sauteed cabbage with shrimp

Three basic ingredients and a tablespoon of sauce are all you need for this hearty vegetable dish.

Sauteed cabbage is one of the easiest and most delicious vegetable dishes to prepare. With garlic, juicy shrimp and a mouthwatering Asian sauce, this recipe will result in a healthy side dish that goes well with everything.

Eat it with noodles or rice, pair it with a protein such as a seafood or chicken dish, or enjoy it entirely on its own – it is absolutely delicious!

Ingredients

  • 400g cabbage, core removed
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 115g shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 heaping tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • salt, to taste

Method

  • Trim off the bottom part of the cabbage and remove the core. Roughly chop the cabbage into pieces.
  • Add the cooking oil to a skillet on medium-high heat. Saute the garlic until it sizzles, then add the shrimp and stir-fry.
  • Add the cabbage and stir to mix well.
  • Add the oyster sauce and water. Stir and cook until the cabbage wilts, softens and cooks through. Add salt to taste.
  • Dish out and serve immediately with dishes of your choice.
