Also known as the Prosperity Toss, no Chinese New Year celebration is complete without the tossing of this medley of symbolic ingredients by everyone in the household.
A traditional Yee Sang platter includes peanuts, plum sauce, sesame oil, crackers, raw salmon and a variety of colourful vegetables.
However, many restaurants have taken the liberty to add their unique touch to this traditional recipe. Here are five Yee Sang platters that stand out.
Le Meridien
Le Meridien is ushering in the Year of the Tiger at their in-house restaurant, Latest Recipe, with a platter of Yee Sang depicting the head of a ferocious or friendly tiger, depending on how you see it.
Their version can be amped up with sliced clam abalone, sliced tuna, salmon, jelly fish and even fresh lobster – making it a feast for the eyes and the palette!
Priced at RM200, this ‘roaring’ Yee Sang is not to be missed. Their Special Yee Sang is available for takeaway as well.

Salad Atelier
For those who made the resolution to eat healthier this year, Salad Atelier has two Yee Sang options that will help you achieve your goal.
The first is their Salmon Huat Yee Sang set that comes with Norwegian fresh salmon sashimi, mandarin orange, chuka wakame, turnip, mango, crushed peanuts, sesame, crackers, shredded vegetables and a drizzle of homemade plum sauce.
Their second option is a vegetarian Yee Sang set. The Meatless HG Yee Sang offers Harvest Gourmet chargrilled pieces instead of salmon.
Their Yee Sang is prepared in three platter sizes – eight to 10 persons, four to six persons and even a personal size for those who wish to enjoy a little bowl of prosperity of their own.
The Salmon Huat Yee Sang and the Meatless HG Yee Sang are priced at between RM24–RM78 depending on the size of the yee sang set. Salad Atelier is available on Grab, Food Panda and Shopee.
