This year, Element @ Westin Kuala Lumpur is hosting Christmas and New Year’s buffets inspired by cuisines from around the world, aptly themed “Travel the Globe”.
As the pandemic has prevented Malaysians from travelling since last year, the hotel’s Trace Restaurant & Bar is hoping to satiate diners’ wanderlust with its culinary offerings.

From Dec 1, diners can opt for the Festive High Tea, which will be available every weekday from 1pm to 5pm at RM138 for two persons.
And on weekends from this Saturday until Dec 18, Trace is offering lunch buffets from 12.30pm to 3.30pm at RM128 per person.

The buffet’s salad section has a wide array of freshly made salads, from Caprese to Waldorf, for health-conscious diners.
As for the main course, there is nothing like tantalising one’s taste buds with a traditional Christmas roast turkey, stuffed with seasonal goodies.
For lovers of red meat, Trace offers a juicy and flavourful sirloin beef.

Seafood fans may want to make a beeline for the pesto baked salmon. The bright green sauce spread over the fish may look a little strange but, taste-wise, they complement each other wonderfully.
A wide selection of hot entrees is also available. There’s Irish beef goulash, an Eastern European dish with tender beef simmering in piping hot gravy.
The grilled snapper in mango cream sauce is also worth a try, with the fresh, succulent fish pairing perfectly with the sweet-sourness of the fruit.

For those craving a similar tanginess, the grilled chicken with pineapple will be right up their alley.
Then there’s the grilled lamb served in Argentinian chimichurri sauce, which has a certain herbaceous flavour and a hint of peppery spice.

Diners who want some carbs can opt for the Spanish seafood paella, where generous portions of calamari, prawn and cherry tomatoes accompany a savoury rice.
The grilled mussels with turmeric is also worth sampling, with the herb infusing the seafood with its distinct, pleasing taste.

Since no international spread is complete without Indian cuisine, the buffet serves spicy south-Asian offerings such as Murgh Makhani butter chicken and lamb biryani.
For dessert, diners will be spoilt for choice with the assortment of cakes and pastries, including red velvet cake, baked apple and raspberry crumble, and tiramisu.
The highlight, however, has to be the lovely Black Forest yule log.

On Christmas Eve, Trace will serve a buffet dinner from 6.30pm to 10pm, priced at RM158 per adult and RM79 per child.
On Christmas Day itself, a buffet lunch will be served from 12.30pm to 3.30pm, at RM138 per adult and RM69 per child.
There will also be a buffet dinner on New Year’s Eve and a buffet brunch the following day, with timings and rates similar to those of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, respectively.

Also available are early-bird discounts from Dec 1 to Dec 19, which will knock RM30 off the prices for adults.
Furthermore, Trace is offering a “Festive to Go” dinner box with five mains, a selection of three starter salads, sides and desserts for RM250.
It is available on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. An advance reservation of two days is required.
