With the loosening of restrictions, now would be as good a time as ever to support your local neighbourhood eateries. One restaurant deserving of attention is located in Section 17, Petaling Jaya, where the gastronomical scene is renowned among local foodies.
A relative newcomer, the restaurant name tells you everything about its menu. Tipsy Boar is centred around pork, served in different styles and inspired by different cuisines.
It will certainly leave you content with its porky platters and bevy of beers and beverages. Suffice to say this place is non-halal.

First-timers have to try the Ribs Platter, which is perfect for a small dining party. Nine pork ribs are served in three different flavours: the Signature Sauce, Sarawak Pepper, and Memphis Dry.
If the mark of good ribs is buttery meat that parts from the bone easily, then Tipsy Boar passes with flying colours.
The marinades enhance the rich flavour of the tender pork, with the Sarawak Pepper giving it a real kick and the Memphis Dry adding a certain tanginess.

As rice is a staple for Malaysians, it only makes sense that it is featured on the menu. The Skillet Rice is a scandalous serving of tangy tomatoes and thick, gooey cheese, served – spoiler alert! – in a hot iron skillet.
Southern American Creole-style tomato rice, slices of sausage, bits of bacon, and a hearty amount of parmesan cheese result in a mouthwatering dish with strong flavours, best eaten piping hot.

If you’re more of a pasta lover, the Bacon Truffle Mac & Cheese will be right up your alley. This classic comfort food is soft and creamy with juicy bits of bacon in each bite.
You’re likely to detect the distinctive scent of truffles even before it arrives at your table. And when it’s in front of you, you’ll have to fight the urge to rudely gorge yourself on this rich, cheesy, delectable dish.
Oh, what the heck – gorge away!

Those hankering for something closer to home will enjoy the Satay Babe, one of the newer additions to the menu that has been a popular takeaway selection, for good reason.
Made with shoulder meat, this pork satay is an explosive combination of flavours hidden beneath a gorgeous crusty-brown exterior.
The juicy skewers are only made better when dipped into Tipsy Boar’s homemade dark roast peanut sauce, which has a smokier flavour than your conventional satay sauce.

Next up is the Pork Belly Porchetta, which is influenced by Italian cuisine in terms of taste and presentation.
Similar to Chinese roasted pork, the porchetta – which means “little pig” in Italian – is sinfully fatty and delicious, its skin roasted to crispy perfection.
It is served with tasty greens – crunchy grilled broccoli with garlic oil, and a cooling watermelon mint yoghurt salad.

No casual dining restaurant would be complete without a burger on its menu, and Tipsy Boar is no exception. The Full Boar is a whopper of a burger, loaded with a juicy pork patty, fried egg, a slice of American cheese, and strips of bacon.
Sure, it might ruin your diet and leave you in need of a few hours on the treadmill, but it’s a sacrifice worth making given how delectable this beauty of a burger is.
And to top it all off, Tipsy Boar offers a selection of beers and other alcoholic beverages. A round of pints for everyone!

Co-owner and chef Suren Krishnan expressed relief that dine-in restrictions have been lifted and Tipsy Boar might see crowds return in time.
Having relied solely on deliveries the past few months, he is looking forward to welcoming back hungry diners with his irresistible porcine creations.
So what are you waiting for? Get stuffed at Tipsy Boar, or alternatively stay home and enjoy meals of porky pleasure delivered to your doorstep.
