
A freshly baked Nescafe marble cake will flood your kitchen with smells so delightful, you will be reminded of the olden days with “Negaraku” playing on the kitchen radio. It is perfect for rainy afternoons or wistful mornings filled with memories of the good old days.

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon powdered Nescafe
- 200g caster sugar
- 1 tablespoon boiling water
- 200g self-rising flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 200g butter
- 4 eggs
- 3/4 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 2 teaspoons hot water

Method
- Pre-heat the oven to 175°C.
- Line, grease and lightly flour a round 18cm baking pan.
- Dissolve the Nescafe in hot, freshly boiled water and let cool.
- In a separate bowl, sift the flour and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, cream the butter with a whisk. Gradually add the sugar and continue creaming until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- Fold in the flour and baking powder mixture.
- Divide the batter into two bowls. Blend the Nescafe into one bowl of batter, then spoon the mixtures alternately into the baking pan to create a marble effect.
- Bake for 45 minutes. Test for readiness with a toothpick. Once the cake is baked, let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Optionally, sift some caster sugar onto the top of the cake before serving.
