Its chairman, Mohd Azrul Mohd Razak said the poor and needy, as well as the homeless, orphans and persons with disabilities (PwD), were welcome to have a meal the cafe, located along Jalan Sultanah here.
“For this Ramadan, we only operate on Saturday from 7-9pm,” he told Bernama here.
He said the cafe, which was officially opened last Tuesday, was set up after a survey conducted in the surrounding area, revealed that many poor, particularly those with large families, never or rarely ate out at restaurants.
“Now, they can eat out by coming to Kindness Kitchen Cafe. They can also eat for free,” he said, adding that some 25 volunteers will work on a rotation basis at the cafe, to serve the customers and cook in the kitchen.
He appealed to members of the public to either volunteer with other projects run by Kindness Malaysia (Kedah) or to sponsor the breaking of fast meals during Ramadan.
