KUALA LUMPUR:
Since 1998, the Dignity for Children Foundation has been a beacon of hope for underprivileged children and urban youth.

Its history is woven with inspiring stories of resilience and transformation. Of children who once struggled to find a safe space, but who are today thriving as confident learners.

Now, members of the public can discover some of these remarkable stories through a newly launched immersive audio tour, which brings the foundation’s history to life in detail.

The Experiential Audio Tour is part of a community placemaking project that aims to transform Sentul Boulevard into a living canvas of creativity, education, and youth empowerment.

Jointly organised by groups from Malaysia and Singapore, the tour also marks a celebration of 60 years of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

“This is not just a tour; it’s a celebration of what’s possible when art, education, and enterprise come together,” said Rev Elisha Satvinder, co-founder of the work of Dignity for Children Foundation.

“It’s an honour to mark 60 years of Malaysia–Singapore ties by highlighting our shared commitment to nurturing the next generation of creative, confident, and community-rooted leaders.”

The Experiential Audio Tour is designed to engage all five senses, and takes visitors through key spaces within Dignity’s learning ecosystem, where stories and interactive elements bring the community to life.

This placemaking project also celebrates the many social enterprises under Dignity’s umbrella, co-founded and co-led by local changemakers, who have helped shape the physical and social fabric of the Sentul Boulevard space. These include “eat X dignity”, “cut X dignity” and “shop X dignity”.

Visitors can hear, for example, stories behind some of the iconic dishes served at “eat X dignity”, as well as the inspiring tales of staff members who rose to success from humble beginnings.

Alternatively, you can hear how hairdressing helped build skills and confidence for underprivileged youth, and learn the fascinating backstories behind the items and designs at “shop X dignity”.

Visitors can choose between a 20-minute self-guided tour for RM20, or a more immersive 45-minute guided experience for RM80, which includes opportunities to interact with guides, hear deeper stories, and enjoy an RM30 voucher at “shop X dignity”.

Proceeds from the tour will be used to fund education for marginalised children.

The Experiential Audio Tour was launched on Sept 13 at the Dignity for Children Foundation at Sentul Boulevard here.

This immersive audio experience is the result of a cross-border collaboration between Dignity for Children Foundation (Malaysia), Millet World (Singapore), and the Asia Cultural Alliance, with seed funding support from OCBC Bank.

The collaboration aims to reimagine underutilised urban spaces into dynamic, community-driven environments to amplify the voices and stories of children.

“I hope this audio tour will offer visitors a deeper understanding of the impactful work carried out by the Dignity for Children Foundation.

“One highlight is our mural, which I believe enriches the experience by visually capturing the foundation’s mission and community spirit,” Asia Cultural Alliance co-founder Kelvin Loh told FMT Lifestyle.
