The lush greenery at the entrance gives it a homely vibe. As you step inside, you’re greeted by exposed brick walls, warm lighting, and the soft hum of French music.
It’s the kind of place that invites you to unwind with a glass of wine or a laidback meal.
At the heart of this haven, which opened four years ago, is Laurent Robert, a 55-year-old Frenchman from the Champagne region, whose passion for food and wine is deeply rooted in his family’s heritage.
This former mechanical engineer comes from a long line of Champagne makers. He’s the fourth generation to continue the legacy, which began with his great-grandmother, who founded their estate.
“She lost her husband during the first week of World War I,” Robert shared with FMT Lifestyle. “She carried on the business until my grandfather took over after World War II.”

Now Robert has brought this rich family heritage to Delia Wine Bistro, curating a selection of boutique French wines you won’t easily find elsewhere in Malaysia.
One highlight is the 2010 Château Grivière from Bordeaux – a smooth, medium-bodied red with earthy notes and a fruity aroma, perfect for unwinding after a long day.
But Delia isn’t just about wine. Robert’s vision for the bistro is simple: to create a relaxed, authentic French dining experience. “When people come here, they say it’s a very homey place,” he said with a smile.
He doesn’t aspire to compete with fine-dining establishments; instead, Robert’s focus is on offering fresh, daily specials through a “plat du jour” concept – one day it’s beef, the next it’s seafood or lamb – keeping things fresh and interesting.

A great way to start your meal is with the escargot – tender and bathed in a garlicky, herb butter sauce that’s perfect for mopping up with crusty bread. It’s indulgent, comforting, and a must-try for those seeking authentic French flavours.
For the adventurous, the steak tartare is a standout. Made from finely minced fresh beef, it’s perfectly seasoned with French mustard to balance the flavours, making it a hit even for those new to raw beef.
Delia Wine Bistro also nails dishes that are harder to get right. Take sweetbread, for example: this French delicacy – which sounds like a baked treat but is decidedly not – is made from cow pancreas and is often difficult to execute.
But here it’s expertly cooked, with a delicate taste and texture that could easily be mistaken for the tenderness of chicken or veal.

The cassoulet is another star of the menu. A hearty combination of duck confit, pork sausage, pork belly, and tender white beans, this dish embodies the best of rustic French cooking.
Slow-cooked to perfection, the duck is tender, and the smoky sausage adds a bold depth of flavour.
For a spicier twist, try the merguez – North African lamb sausages packed with bold spices and served with harissa sauce, which adds an extra kick without overpowering the dish.
Finish your meal with a classic dessert. The crème brûlée is a crowd-pleaser, with its crackling caramelised sugar layer and silky custard underneath.
Or, if you’re a chocolate lover, go for the mousse: light, airy, and decadently rich, it melts beautifully on the tongue.
Overall, whether you’re craving a comforting meal or wishing to sip on a glass of vino, Delia Wine Bistro certainly brings a taste of France to town. Bon appétit!
