Time to dial it down a notch and enjoy some simple but delicious, homey food instead – the kind you’ll find at Restaurant Santa (Chapati House) on Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman here.
No, you won’t find Santa Claus handing out gifts while his reindeer look on. Instead, what awaits is a range of scrumptious food that will leave you feeling better than any present under the tree!
Speaking with FMT Lifestyle, owner Gurdip Kaur, 55, shared that her restaurant was previously located at a food court in Kompleks Pertama but that she moved to its current location in June.
She added that the new premises is a shop and affords more privacy for her customers, in addition to having a larger kitchen.
She said that among the new items added to the menu include chicken biryani, chicken varuval, samosa, a selection of vegetables and beverages such as mango lassi and fruit juices.

The chicken biryani, available on Fridays and weekends, is served with a hard-boiled egg. The rice is soft, fragrant and delightful when enjoyed with the tender, flavourful chicken and refreshing raita.
Pair the dish with a piping cup of masala tea “special”, a strong and aromatic brew with just the right amount of sweetness. Ahh, bliss!
If you’re looking for lighter fare, how about giving the paratha a try? This flatbread is buttery and flaky, and goes well with the thick dhal curry they serve. The paratha is especially scrumptious when enjoyed fresh off the skillet.
Alternatively, the aloo paratha, which comes with a potato filling, is another tasty option.

Of course, no visit to the restaurant would be complete without trying their famed chapati. Soft and delicious, it is perfect when enjoyed with their side dishes such as tofu sambal or fish curry.

The chicken varuval would delight meat lovers. Juicy and flavourful, it has just the right amount of spice to give it some “kick” without setting your tongue on fire.
Alternatively, the fried chicken is delicious as well – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and finger-licking good!

If you’re looking for snacks, the samosa is delightful with a crispy crust that encases a generous portion of potato filling inside. Enjoy them with a hot cup of special tea, a creamy brew made with fresh cow’s milk.
Alternatively, if the day is scorching, pair the samosas with a refreshing fruit juice or mango lassi.
All in all, a meal at Restaurant Santa (Chapati House) is simple, homey yet satisfying – what better way to enjoy the festive season.
