Even those who were lucky enough to have travelled to the US and sampled the dishes in their country of origin would still dream about the food long after they’ve returned home.
But fret no more, Malaysians, as Taco Bell has finally landed on our shores and officially opened its doors today on April 2, 2021.

“We are excited to finally bring this youthful and iconic brand to Malaysia, starting with our first Taco Bell outlet in Cyberjaya. The Mexican-inspired cuisine of Taco Bell is most certainly the best in the world from a restaurant chain,” said Harris Beh, Taco Bell Malaysia’s franchise operator.
“The two-storey restaurant design features Taco Bell’s signature iconic styles throughout the building, from the rainbow-coloured Taco ceiling to our indoor sunroom with high glass panels.”
But not everything was imported from the US, as Taco Bell Malaysia added a local flavour to the ambiance by commissioning Malaysian artist Wilson Ng to paint a mural depicting the franchise’s tagline ‘Live Mas’, meaning ‘Live More’.
Aesthetics aside, what’s there to dig in, you ask? Let’s ‘taco’ about it!

Before you get started, note that all ingredients used at Taco Bell Malaysia are from halal-certified sources.
So, if this is your first time dining at Taco Bell, you may begin your Tex-Mex journey with the Taco Bell’s staple — the simple yet wholesome 2 Taco Supreme.
You can opt for the warm and soft flour tortilla wrap, but if you’re feeling adventurous, a golden crunchy corn tortilla shell will do the trick.
Next, decide on whether you’d like beef, chicken or black beans (perfect if you’re vegetarian) and sit back and watch the show as your taco gets topped with a myriad of colourful, flavourful ingredients such as Taco Bell’s signature hot sauce, sour cream, fresh lettuce, diced tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.

But don’t stop at just one taco; the 2 Kickin’ Chicken Tacos is one dish that should not be missed.
This soft taco shell cradles a crispy, juicy chicken strip that’s drizzled in flavourful Kickin’ sauce and topped off with a generous dressing of pico de gallo salsa and, of course, a healthy blend of mozzarella and cheddar cheese.
You’ll find yourself gobbling this juicy and refreshing meal in mere seconds.

One can’t possibly leave Taco Bell without trying the famous hexagon meaty delight, the Crunchwrap Supreme.
This handheld wrap comprises warm nacho cheese sauce, your choice of protein, a generous dollop of sour cream, Taco Bell’s signature hot sauce and a soft flour tortilla that serves to wrap all the goodness up before it’s griddled like a quesadilla.
If you find yourself particularly ravenous, this is the perfect wrap to devour.

Still can’t give your love for rice a rest? You can get your fill of carbohydrates with the Bell Rice Bowl — an exclusive Taco Bell item that can only be found in Malaysia!
Don’t let the presentation fool you, as this is no regular taco bowl.
It comes with seasoned Mexican rice, grilled chicken pieces, pico de gallo salsa, fresh lettuce, black beans and nacho chips for an added crunch, and topped off with a unique twist — Malaysian-style sambal!
If you can’t handle your spice, worry not, as the sambal sauce is rather sweet and pairs perfectly with the chicken.
You can always opt to wash it all down with your regular soda but Taco Bell has introduced two refreshing drinks exclusive to Malaysia called Taco Bell Sparklers, from which you can choose either Summer Mint or Strawberry Delight.

Titular dishes aside, there are plenty of other tasty items on Taco Bell’s menu.
These include the Loaded Nachos topped with sour cream, guacamole, and lots of nacho cheese sauce; Chicken Quesadilla for those looking for cheesier options, and a Grilled Stuffed Burrito and Chocodilla, which is essentially a dessert tortilla filled with gooey, melted chocolate.

Don’t forget to end your sweet journey with Taco Bell on an even sweeter note with its Cinnamon Twists.
Though rather simple and innocent-looking, this delicious cinnamon-rich and sugary snack makes for a truly light yet magical treat.

Speaking to FMT, Ankush Tuli, the managing director of Taco Bell Asia Pacific expressed his excitement about the opening of Malaysia’s first-ever Taco Bell outlet and future expansion plans.
“We are grateful to all our fans here who have been waiting for the brand to open in Malaysia and we are delighted to invite all of them to come and try our signature and iconic food at our first location at Cyberjaya,” he said.
So, if you’re ever in Cyberjaya, be sure to pop by for some mouthwatering Tex-Mex food at Taco Bell — there’s no doubt that the experience will be absolutely spec-taco-lar!
