Ah Bii: The lost puppy who became a princess

Wong Jun Yong's heart melted when he saw a tiny puppy all by herself and was overjoyed when his dad said he could keep her.

Ah Bii was just a tiny puppy when Wong Jun Yong spotted her outside his home in Ipoh.

Her name is Ah Bii. And Wong Jun Yong first spotted her outside his house in Ipoh when he was around 11 years old. He remembers she was small enough to be lifted with just one hand.

He and his siblings had always wanted a pet in the house but his father was dead against it. However, for some reason, his father unexpectedly agreed to let them adopt Ah Bii.

The kids were so overjoyed at the prospect of having a puppy that all four of them started dancing around the house.

Ah Bii had her own unique personality and was always treated like the “special one”. It became clear all too soon that she was not considered a dog or a pet but a member of the Wong family.

In fact, she had become their little princess.

Jun Yong remembers the time when Ah Bii developed an allergy to a particular dog food – the skin on her forehead started to itch badly and because she scratched it, the skin eventually bled.

(L): Ah Bii was positively annoyed at having to wear an e-collar. (R): Flashing a wide smile for the camera.

At the veterinary clinic, the doctor shaved off all the fur on that spot and to stop her from further scratching her inflamed skin, she was required to wear an e-collar.

While the family felt sorry for her, they could not help but laugh at how funny she looked with a big plastic cone attached to her head.

Ah Bii however was not amused in the least bit and refused to go out walking with the e-collar still on. This was a shame as walking was what she loved most.

Till now, Ah Bii is still Jun Yong’s favourite girl and although she has passed away, he says he will never forget just how much joy she brought him and his family.

Old but gold! Ah Bii having a rest on her bed.
