Anaki Boizu @ TTDI for Japanese food done right

Whether it's a bowl of Ramen or a serving of Yakitori, the food in this tiny restaurant will keep you coming for more.

A hearty bowl of ramen comes at an affordable price.

Another hidden gem has been discovered in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI), a neighbourhood well known for its gastronomical delights.

Quietly tucked away on the second floor of a building along Jalan Aminuddin Baki, finding this small dining space can be quite challenging.

But fret not, just look for Restoran Maulana and you’ll find Anaki Boizu upstairs, next to an event space called InTun Nation.

Anaki Boizu is a dream come true of two best friends who used to work in a fine dining restaurant, so you don’t have to worry about the quality of the food here.

Nonetheless, as a first-timer, you’ll probably be quite taken aback at the interior design that is rather simple and old school.

However, although the space was limited, it can comfortably fit up to 12 patrons at any one time.

The menu is limited. There were three types of ramen available – Beef, Soft-Shell Crab, and the talk-of-the-town – Grilled Chicken.

Fair warning: One bowl isn’t enough. The Soft-Shell Crab Ramen was so heavenly, you wouldn’t want to share it with anyone.

The springy ramen noodles were perfectly cooked and absorbed the well-balanced salty-peppery chicken broth.

The soft-shell crab itself was exemplary – lightly-battered and deep-fried for a couple of minutes before being served fresh and hot.

Since the ramen portion was smaller than expected, it is suggested you try their handmade Yakitori instead.

Made from scratch, you can choose either chicken, organs, or fish for your Yakitori and all three are truly delicious.

Try these for yourself and be sure to get there early as this restaurant only serves 20 bowls per day.
