KUALA LUMPUR:
YTL Power International Bhd is exploring building data centres and becoming a power producer in South Africa, according to local media.

YTL would like to enter the market in a year or two, the report said, citing YTL Power executive director Yeoh Keong Hann.

He said the South African government also wants the company to provide the country with water management expertise.

YTL was invited to the G20 summit that ended yesterday by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, according to the report.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim was also in South Africa for the summit, and travelled to Kenya on Monday as part of his three-country African visit.

Aside from its home market of Malaysia, YTL Power operates a power producer in Singapore and a water utility in the UK.
