Yew Sin-Ee Yi knocked out of India Open in first round

Malaysia's world No 27 pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi lost in three games to China’s world No 3 pair Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang at the India Open.

Men’s doubles shuttlers Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi were shown the exit by China’s world No 3 pair Liang Wei Keng-Wang Chang in their first round tie at the India Open badminton tournament today.

The world No 27 Malaysian pair fought hard but lost 12-21, 21-19, 15-21 to the more experienced duo, who are seeded second in the tournament.

Both pairs have beaten each other once, with Yew Sin-Ee Yi claiming victory in their first meeting at the 2022 Denmark Open in straight games.

According to the India Open fixture which was redrawn after last minute withdrawals, the Chinese pair received a bye and have qualified for Friday’s quarter-finals.
