PETALING JAYA: National women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M Thinaah moved into the second round of the India Open after beating home pair Prerana Alvekar-Mrunmayee Deshpande 21-8, 21-19.
The Malaysian pair took the first game in just 12 minutes.
However, the world No 142 Indian pair gave the seventh-ranked Malaysian pair a scare in the second game when they led all the way until 15-14 before losing the match in 26 minutes.
At the Malaysia Open last week, Pearly-Thinaah were knocked out in the opening round.
