Under an agreement signed today by the two parties, NEC Malaysia will collaborate with MyDigital to drive the implementation of various initiatives under the Malaysia digital economy blueprint.
The company will also serve as a thought leadership consultant in the MyDigital catalytic projects, an initiative by the government to provide digital infrastructure consultancy and solutions to businesses in sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, transportation and logistics, healthcare services as well as utilities.
The catalytic projects initiative offers eligible companies advice on adoption of technology such as artificial intelligence, the internet of things, blockchain, cloud computing and big data analysis as well as advanced material and technologies, both parties said in a joint statement issued today.
They will also collaborate in efforts to reskill workers with the relevant digital capabilities through workshops as well as training and internship programmes for tertiary and vocational students.
NEC Malaysia managing director Chong Kai Wooi said the objective is to help Malaysia achieve its goal of becoming a digital nation that “ensures inclusivity and sustainable growth”.
“As Malaysia advances in its goal to digitalise the economy, we must ensure that no sector and no one is left behind. Our partnership will enable us to support companies with digital knowledge and expertise to build resilience and competitiveness,” Chong added.
MyDigital CEO Fabian Bigar said the tie-up with NEC Malaysia was part of a strategy to collaborate with private sector partners to transform Malaysia into a highly-enabled and technology driven high-income nation.
Economic affairs minister Mustapa Mohamed, Japanese ambassador to Malaysia Takahashi Katsuhiko and president of global business at NEC Corporation Akihiko Kumagai witnessed the signing of the agreement.
