Petronas awarded shallow water block in Mexico

State energy firm says it will operate the block in a 50-50 partnership with Colombian national oil company Ecopetrol.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Malaysian state energy firm Petronas said today it has been awarded a shallow water block in the Mexican portion of the Gulf of Mexico that it will operate jointly with Colombia’s Ecopetrol.

Petroliam Nasional Berhad, also known as Petronas, has been awarded shallow water Block 6 in the Gulf’s Salina Basin, the company said in a statement.

The block will be operated in a 50-50 partnership with Colombian national oil company Ecopetrol, it said.
