
JAKARTA: Eleven passengers of a Lion Air flight leaving Pontianak, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, en route to Jakarta, sustained injuries following a fake bomb threat yesterday.
Indonesian media reported that a male passenger identified as Frantinus Nirigi was allegedly joking about the existence of a bomb on the plane while the other passengers were entering the Boeing 737 aircraft.
It then caused a panic situation among other passengers, leading them to open the emergency exit door to save themselves.
A video recording of the incident, which went viral on social media in Indonesia showed that panicked passengers jumping out through the emergency door as well from the plane’s wings, causing them suffer injuries.
Flight JT687, which was scheduled to depart from Supadio International Airport at 6.50pm local time was delayed to 9.45pm local time, and safely arrived at its destination at 11.10pm local time.
