Fun activities are in abundance with the likes of adoption drives, a Pets Bazaar, a Make-a-Wish tree, doggy play pen, doggy pool and more.
It’s the perfect opportunity to bond with your adorable furkid and meet like-minded people who’ll no doubt be there with their furry four-legged kids in tow.
Event organiser and animal lover Penny Goh spoke to FMT recently about the objective behind Pets’ Day Out.
She said that she was troubled by the stray animal population in her area and the community’s aversion to street dogs and cats.
So, when she heard of the Small Grants Programme of Bukit Gasing that focuses on community projects, she jumped at the chance to use the funds to help create greater community awareness about this issue.
“We hope to raise awareness among the public that these stray dogs are usually harmless and they can be community dogs for a housing area if residents are willing to step up and care for them,” she added.

Another issue close to Goh’s heart is pet adoption. She said people often did not see the value in adopting stray and abandoned animals and preferred buying them from pet shops or breeders instead, a mindset she hoped to change.
She also stressed that pet ownership was a big responsibility. Besides providing them with food and shelter, all pets should be neutered or spayed to prevent unwanted puppies and kittens from being born and subsequently dumped by the roadside to fend for themselves as strays.
“After welcoming them into your family, another thing to keep in mind is to spay or neuter your pet, which in turn can tackle the pet homelessness issue.”
Saturday’s event will be held at Waggin’ Pawtails in Kota Damansara, a centre which offers boarding facilities for rescued stray cats and dogs.
Co-founder of Waggin’ Pawtails Jennifer Rozario said the centre was happy to offer its premises as the venue for the event as they too wanted to help create awareness and a renewed community effort to care for rescues, strays as well as pets.

Waggin’ Pawtails also wanted to do their part in encouraging pet adoption.
“The amount of love a rescue can bring to a family is immeasurable and will do wonders in strengthening the bond between family members.”
Speaking about the centre’s features, she said: “We have a pet boarding service, doggy daycare, a soon-to-be-opened vet, a pet shop, acupuncture and wellness centre and much more.”
So, if you’re looking to spend a few hours out with your family members and four-legged kids, do drop by for a truly fun-filled day.
Other independent animal rescue groups and animal shelters collaborating in the event include Voice for Paws, DP Strays and Paws Animal Welfare Society.
