Since opening its doors in 2011, KL Pooch Resort and Rescue (KLPR) has been both home and haven to unwanted, injured and abused dogs. Besides providing boarding services, KLPR also prioritises the welfare of strays and acts on reports of strays in need.
However, it has been tough going for KLPR to look after the 250 dogs at its Kalumpang premises, especially with the ongoing pandemic.
As such, KLPR is appealing to dog and animal lovers out there to either sponsor these dogs, or better yet, adopt them.
That said, below are five furry friends in search of a forever home and who knows, they might just be the gift that lifts your spirits in these trying times.
Teddy

The youngest pup living at KLPR at the moment, Teddy is between two to five months old and is likely to grow to be a medium-sized dog. The darling of the shelter staff, he is a friendly boy who happily plays with other dogs without hesitation.
In fact, his friendliness was what caused him to be rescued in the first place. During a routine outreach feeding session, Teddy first approached KLPR staff and began following them everywhere.
Despite attempts to reunite him with his family, he insisted on following the staff around. Due to the many industrial vehicles traversing the area, the KLPR staff decided the risk of an accident was reason enough to take him in.
He has already been dewormed and has since received his first vaccination.
Crackle

Estimated to be around one and a half years old, Crackle is one dog who might just bounce off the walls with the amount of energy she has. Absurdly alert, she would probably make a good guard dog, though her sweet demeanour would endear her to anyone with a heart.
Crackle and her sisters, Snap and Pop, were found outside the gates of KLPR. While dumping dogs without notice is highly inadvisable and discouraged, KLPR’s staff did not have the heart to turn away the sister trio.
At present, the sisters stay together in the same kennel and enjoy each other’s company with love and affection. She has since been dewormed, spayed and has received the necessary vaccinations.
Candy

Short and stout, friendly Candy is true to her name as she is a sweet dog without a bad bone in her body. Estimated to be one-and-a-half years old as well, she has become something of the head comedian at KLPR.
However, she suffered before being taken in, as she was found dumped in a plantation area, with the strong likelihood of a previous owner.
Dogs and humans would benefit from having this four-legged bundle of sweetness in their lives. As such, she would make the perfect companion for families with existing pets.
She has since been dewormed, spayed and has received the necessary vaccinations.
Kelly

Found wandering outside a plantation, Kelly is believed to be about five months in age.
At the time of her rescue, almost her entire body was infested with ticks and she had been starving for quite a bit.
Thankfully, KLPR did brilliantly to nurse Kelly back to her goofy best and at present, she is a playful bundle of joy beloved by all her friends at the centre.
She has since been dewormed, will soon be spayed and has received the necessary vaccinations.
Lassie

Unlike the Hollywood icon, this Lassie has a somewhat sadder backstory however.
When he was found by a KLPR rescuer, Lassie had clearly not been eating well, with his ribs visible. After being brought to the shelter, he was slowly nursed back to health and is now as fit as a fiddle.
An affectionate and loyal five-year-old dog, he would make the perfect companion to both humans and other dogs.
He also has an affinity for posing for the camera, so shutterbugs would have a field day with this wannabe movie star.
Lassie has also been dewormed, spayed and has received the necessary vaccinations.
Due to ongoing travel restrictions, visits to the shelter are not possible, but KLPR will make arrangements to send dogs to their adopters. Adopters have a two-week foster period to decide if their new dog is a good match for their home.
Once the adoption is finalised, a fee of RM350 will be charged and in return, you will get a lifetime of benefits including discounted dog food, boarding and grooming sessions. Adopters and their dogs will also have unlimited use of KLPR’s recreation facilities.
If you wish to adopt any of the animals featured here, contact KLPR on WhatsApp at 012-3960977 or 016-2333647. You can also visit their website for more information.
