When Mala Vijaykumar first set eyes on Bambi two months ago, she was stunned by the toy poodle’s cute and bubbly personality. And considering Bambi’s adorable good looks, who wouldn’t be?

“She is so mischievous and intelligent for a five-month old puppy,” says Mala on her newfound companion.

In such a short time, Mala has grown very fond of Bambi, despite the fact that the poodle can be too clingy at times.

“Bambi has a total fear of missing out (FOMO) which is why she is such an attention seeker. But on the flipside, she’s also extremely loving!”

In spite of her young age, Bambi has matured rapidly, developing a keen sensitivity towards understanding human emotions, which according to Mala, is such a joy to experience.

“She can already sense my emotions and behave accordingly, which is really sweet, especially when she cuddles up and smothers me with her furry hugs,” shares Mala.

Like most puppies, Bambi has an affinity for chewing at almost anything she comes in contact with. However, the easiest way to distract this spunky poodle is by engaging her in a good round of fetch.

But therein lies a slight problem for Mala — Bambi still despises her bath time.

“She is not a big fan of showering and to make things worse, she loves exploring the outdoors which means she enjoys getting herself nice and dirty!”

True to her adventurous nature, Bambi loves to run around Mala’s house and play all day, that is, until she hears her “enemy” creeping up on her in the distance.

“Her arch enemy is definitely the vacuum cleaner. She can’t stand the noise and barks at it ferociously at times. She is generally afraid of hair dryers as well.”

In such instances when the tensions rise, the one thing that does soothe Bambi is her favourite chicken-flavoured Kibbles. If that doesn’t do it, Mala’s warm embrace surely does.

Despite all the fuss and bother, Mala and Bambi have enjoyed getting to know each other the past two months.

“It’s been a real pleasure teaching her how to sit, stand, handshake and fetch — she’s such a quick learner and I can only imagine what we’ll learn together down the road.”

These fun lessons also go both ways, as more often than not, Bambi also loves to teach Mala a few new tricks, especially when it comes to being patient.

“She loves to test my patience, especially when it comes to bed time. As much as she loves sleeping on her pillow every night, she still sneaks up onto my bed to sleep beside me. Truly, patience is a virtue!”
