PETALING JAYA:
Imagine years of blood, sweat and tears in an effort to get a university degree only for it to be chewed up by your cat.

It sounds ludicrous, but that’s exactly what happened to university graduate, Afif Adlan Mohd Hanafiah.

Afif, who completed his BSc with Honours in Finance, Accounting and Management from the University of Nottingham in July, had just received his certificate.

However, his cat Mika decided to take a bite of the rather expensive piece of paper.

Amused by his cat’s hatred towards his certificate, he posted up a photograph of the damaged certificate on Twitter which quickly went viral.

“My cat [expletive] ate my degree. Of all the useless papers in my room, he ate my [expletive] degree.

“It’s like he [expletive] knew,” wrote Afif.

He also shared a photo of the furry culprit.

Twitter user @thesturlitez commented, “When you go for interviews, don’t forget to show this tweet as evidence.”

Another amused Twitter user @sarahnavids added, “Is this another version of the dog ate my homework?”

Twitter users also joined the fun who shared their own stories of their pets destroying important documents like @Maureen Crow-Magnon Quasiparticle who commented, “Usually mine just throw up on important paperwork, or worse. I did have a rabbit at one point who ate any paper he could find.”

The post currently has over 271,000 likes and 53,200 retweets.
