3 national pairs storm into Taipei Open semis

Malaysia are guaranteed a spot in the men's doubles final after today's results.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Three Malaysian representatives including doubles pairs Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi, as well as Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun, advanced to the Taipei Open semifinals today.

Malaysia are guaranteed a spot in the men’s doubles final as top seeds Yew Sin-Ee Yi will lock horns with fifth seeds Wei Chong-Kai Wun in the last four tomorrow at the Tian-Mu Arena.

In today’s quarterfinals, Yew Sin-Ee Yi came from behind to dispose of Taiwan’s Lee Fang Chih and Lee Fang Jen 15-21, 21-19, 21-17.

Malaysia Masters runners-up Wei Chong-Kai Wun on the other hand took 32 minutes to stun fourth seeds Lee Jhe Huei and Yang Po Hsuan of Taiwan 21-19, 21-19.

Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei also made it to the semifinals by triumphing over home duo Yang Po Hsuan and Hu Ling Fang 21-15, 21-14.

The fourth seeds will face another Taiwanese pair, Ye Hong Wei and Lee Chia Hsin, who prevented an all-Malaysian semifinal by ousting Hoo Pang Ron and Teoh Mei Xing 21-18, 21-14.
