World No 12 duo will face Tokyo Olympics champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi Lin in the quarterfinals.

KUALA LUMPUR:
National men’s doubles pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi maintained their strong form to earn a quarterfinals ticket at the World Championships in Huelva, Spain.

However, the ninth-seeded duo needed 68 minutes to defeat eighth seeds Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty of India 22-20, 18-21, 21-15.

The world No 12 duo next face Tokyo Olympics champions Lee Yang-Wang Chi Lin, who defeated young Malaysian pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani 21-18, 17-21, 21-18.

Meanwhile, Rio 2016 bronze medalists Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong kept their world title hopes alive with a victory over Bjarne Geiss-Jan Colin Volker.

V Shem-Wee Kiong, seeded 10th, defeated the unseeded Germans 21-14, 14-21, 21-17.
