KUALA LUMPUR:
Mixed pair Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying are the only shuttlers carrying Malaysia’s challenge in Denmark Open quarterfinals.

The fourth seeds advanced to the last eight after securing a hard-fought 26-24, 13-21, 21-11 win over unheralded Indian pair Pranaav Jerry Chopra-Reddy N. Sikki at Odense Sportspark yesterday.

Two other pairs crashed out of the US$775,000 tournament.

Mixed pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai lost 21-15, 22-20 to eighth seeds Tang Chun Man-Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong while Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik were shown the door by world champions Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan.

The Indonesian men’s pair won 22-20, 21-16.

Peng Soon and Liu Ying are slated to meet fifth seeds Seo Seung Jae-Chae Yujung today.

The South Koreans defeated Chang Tak Ching-Ng Wing Yung of Hong Kong 21-12, 21-6 in another second round tie.
