Baddrol – won the FA Cup with Kedah in 2007, 2008 and 2017 – is expecting stiff opposition from the Bos Gaurus who last won the Cup in 2004.
The Kedah midfielder also mentions the fact that two teams from the north contesting the final is special to him.
The last time that happened was in 2007 when Kedah beat Perlis 4-2 in a penalty shootout at Batu Kawan Stadium in Pulau Pinang.
“Our preparations are as usual and I hope we can carry our momentum from the Super League into the FA Cup final so we can win,” Baddrol told Bernama.
In the semifinals, Perak defeated Pahang 4-3 on aggregate, while Kedah drew 3-3 with Felda United but progressed to the final on the away goals rule.
Meanwhile, Baddrol says Kedah’s favourable draw in the Malaysia Cup, which starts next month, can be used as motivation to secure positive results this year.
However, he warns his teammates not to take their Group A opponents lightly. Terengganu FC, PKNS FC and Negeri Sembilan make up the rest of the group.
“As favourites in Group A we should be motivated to finish in the top spot. But we should not take the challenge posed by the other teams for lightly,” said Baddrol.
