KENINGAU:
The Sabah Football Association (Safa) will pay their players’ five months’ salary arrears before Christmas.

Safa president Datuk Peter Anthony said today that they would settle all arrears, amounting to RM6 million, to the players.

“This includes the players’ wages, income tax deductions, contributions to the Social Security Organisation (Socso) and Employees Provident Fund (EPF),” he told reporters when met after the launching of the Kadazandusun and Murut (KDM) Malaysia Football League here.

Thirty-two teams are competing in the league, which is jointly organised by the KDM Malaysia Organisation and Sabah youth and sports ministry.

Peter, who is also the state development and infrastructure minister, said he would hold a meeting soon to find ways to improve off-field issues (the management of Safa) and on-field matters (to get their Premier League side promoted to the Super League).
