
In a statement issued today, the Education Ministry said this was followed by the Indonesian contingent which collected 60 medals comprising 19 gold, 18 silver and 23 bronze, while in third place was Thailand with 49 medals comprising 13 gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze.
“The Malaysian rhythmic gymnastic team obtained its target by winning all six gold medals it contested this year while the swimmers also did well by setting two new records through Sebastian Soon in the 400-metres individual relay and Ng Jing Fu in the 100-metre breast-stroke event,” the statement said.
The games which are held in several sports venues in Shah Alam for 10 days beginning last Thursday until this Friday sees the participation of teams from Vietnam, Singapore, Philippines, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Brunei.
The Malaysian contingent is represented by 193 athletes, competing in 11 sports including badminton, basketball, volleyball, squash and athletics.
