JDT maintain top spot in Super League

The 2018 Super League champion, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) maintain top spot after defeating PKNP FC 2-1 at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh tonight.

JDT’s goals were scored by Fernando Marquez in the 73rd minute and Muhammad Syafiq Ahmad in the 76th minute, while PKNP FC goal was netted by Fandi Ahmad in the 78th minute.

The Southern Tigers had so far collected 56 points, 20 points ahead of its nearest contender Perak, with only one match to spare.

For the record, JDT had already won the Super League title for the fifth consecutive season since 2014, after defeating Perak 2-1 at the Perak Stadium on July 10, hence earning an automatic spot in the group stage of the 2019 AFC Champions League.

Meanwhile, Kelantan would not be playing in the Super League next season after losing to Terengganu FC 0-2 at Sultan Ismail Nasiruddin Shah Stadium in Kuala Terengganu.

The two goals of the Turtle squad were scored by Kipre Tchetche in the 43rd minute and Mohamad Kamal Azizi in the 53rd minute.
