FAP deputy president Gary Nair described Zairil’s decision to quit two days ago as hasty as it would put the management and administration of FAP in greater uncertainty.
“Today, we held a meeting and asked the opinions of all FAP council members.
“In the meeting, we unanimously decided not to accept the resignation of Zairil as president.
“We have formed a sub-committee to meet and persuade Zairil to stay on until the end of the season.
“The council members have agreed to ask Zairil to wait until the AGM in November.
“After that, whoever is the president will depend on FAP,” he told a media conference here tonight.
On Tuesday, Zairil announced his resignation from the post with immediate effect after the state Super League team were demoted to Premier League next season.
