<p>When the last surviving beca maker in Kuala Lumpur, Benny Diong, had to close his business last year due to the pandemic, the art and craft of the <a href="https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/top-lifestyle/2022/05/03/building-the-beca-documenting-the-lost-art-of-trishaw-making/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><span style="color: #ff0000;">KL trishaw</span></a> would have been forgotten had it not been for cultural worker Jeffrey Lim.</p>
<p>In collaboration with Diong, as well as a filmmaker, a researcher, and a drafter, Lim managed to document the KL beca-making process while gaining hands-on experience along the way.</p>
<p>The &#8220;Building the Beca&#8221; exhibition was held at arts and culture space KongsiKL from April 7-10, where a short film and archival videos were shown &#8211; alongside the glorious beca itself.</p>
