PETALING JAYA:
An eight-year-old girl died in an accident this morning after the motorcycle she was riding on with her parents collided with the rear of an SUV in heavy traffic on Jalan Cheras.

Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement chief Zamzuri Isa said a preliminary investigation found that the 35-year-old motorcyclist, whose wife and daughter were riding pillion, lost control of the motorcycle and rammed into the back of an SUV on the right lane.

Another motorcyclist travelling behind them was unable to avoid the collision, struck their motorcycle and fell, Sinar Harian reported him as saying.

Zamzuri said the father sustained injuries to his waist and both legs, while his wife suffered an injury to her right arm. Both are receiving treatment at Canselor Tuanku Muhriz Hospital.

The driver of the SUV was uninjured, while the 47-year-old rider of the other motorcycle sustained an injury to his left knee.

Zamzuri said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
