PETALING JAYA:
A woman is set to be charged in court tomorrow after she allegedly threw her newborn baby girl from the 10th floor of a flat in Johor Bahru last month.

Johor acting police chief Hoo Chuan Huat said police received a report about a baby’s body found at a flat’s parking area on May 2.

A 22-year-old suspect was arrested at noon today at Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru.

“The suspect is believed to have thrown the baby, who was still alive, from the 10th floor, causing her death,” he said, Bernama reported.

Hoo said checks found that the suspect has no prior criminal record.

He said police had probed the case under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, which carries a sentence of up to 30 years’ imprisonment and a fine upon conviction.
