PETALING JAYA:
Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said Johor menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi will remain the coalition’s poster boy for the state polls.

Zahid also said BN was aiming to win over 40 state seats, Bernama reported.

In the 2022 state polls, BN won 40 seats, Pakatan Harapan secured 12, Perikatan Nasional won three and Muda one.

Last month, Onn Hafiz said BN will contest all 56 state seats.

Zahid also said Onn Hafiz had submitted the list of proposed candidates, adding that the lineup would be finalised after he had consulted the other leaders in the coalition.

“The candidates are still being assessed,” he was quoted as saying.

The Johor legislative assembly was dissolved yesterday, paving the way for the 16th state election to be held within the next 60 days.
