PETALING JAYA:
Johor Pakatan Harapan says it is ready for the state election after menteri besar and Johor Barisan Nasional chairman Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the dissolution of the state legislative assembly today.

Johor PH said it had anticipated that BN would dissolve the assembly well before its automatic dissolution in April next year.

“Johor PH will press ahead with existing preparations for this election and refer the matter to the PH presidential council to chart our next steps,” it said in a statement.

“For us, there is no such thing as an easy election. Johor PH is ready to mobilise and win this state election.”

The statement was jointly issued by Johor PH chairman and Johor Amanah chairman Aminolhuda Hassan, Johor PKR chairman Dr Zaliha Mustafa, and Johor DAP chairman Teo Nie Ching.

Meanwhile, Johor Perikatan Nasional (PN) said recent tensions between PAS and Bersatu would not prevent both parties from working together at the polls.

“Johor PN has no issues. We will move together,” Johor PN chairman Sahruddin Jamal told FMT.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had earlier announced that PAS would reassess its cooperation with Bersatu, warning that its patience “has limits”.

The announcement came after PAS said it had been evaluating Bersatu’s actions “one by one”, citing the political situation in Negeri Sembilan and Perlis, as well as disagreements over efforts to bring certain parties into PN.

PN, BN and PH are expected to compete for all 56 seats in the Johor state election, which must be held within the next 60 days.

BN will be defending 40 seats, while PH holds 12, PN three, and Muda one.
