Senior cop, wife die after their car skids into opposite lane

An officer from the Kuantan police headquarters and his wife were killed after the car they were in lost control and skidded into the opposite lane at about 3am today.

Police inspector Syah Lokman Ludza Ramli, 50, and Nurulfiza Ardiana Amba, 46, died at the scene at Km76 Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near Paloh Hinai in Pekan, Pahang.

Pekan police chief Zaidi Mat Zin said Syah Lokman was driving  from Kuantan to Jempol, Negeri Sembilan, while another car was proceeding from Gelang Patah, Johor, to Terengganu.

He said Syah Lokman lost control of his car, which skidded into the opposite lane, resulting in a collision with the second vehicle, Utusan Malaysia reported.

The couple’s four children, aged 10 to 18, sustained injuries and are being treated at Hospital Muadzam Shah in Rompin.

The driver of the second vehicle, aged 26, suffered only minor injuries but his pregnant wife, also 26, is being treated at Hospital Muadzam Shah.

The case is being probed for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
